Schnucks, the third-generation, family-owned company started in 1939 in North St. Louis. Nearly 80 years later, the grocer has grown to 100 stores across five Midwestern States. Nearly two-thirds of Schnucks stores are located in the greater St. Louis area.
Companies joining as a Silver Level Mosaic Company place value in maintaining an internationally welcoming work environment and agree to spread awareness of the St. Louis Mosaic Project, encourage associates to become Mosaic Ambassadors and participate in volunteer opportunities that support international communities.
The following are some examples of how Schnucks has been an inclusive workplace in St. Louis:
- Member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis
- Talent Acquisition materials and information written in Spanish throughout the market locations that are primarily Hispanic
- Development of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, for Schnuck Markets, led by Leon Sharpe of the Praxis Group LLC
- Tailored merchandise within stores for different demographics depending on geographic location
- Teammates in stores who speak another language label that on their name badges so customers can have a translator if needed
- Monthly companywide activities and informational materials surrounding diversity awareness and celebrations from different ethnicities, backgrounds and cultures.
