St. Louis Mosaic Ambassador School
NCNAA is a St. Louis Public Schools program that serves newcomer refugee and immigrant students who live in the city of St. Louis. The goals of NCNAA are:
- create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for learning
- accelerate the acquisition of the English language in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing
- improve overall academic performance
- introduce students to U.S. culture and school
- increase awareness of educational expectations and opportunities
Action items:
- Provide orientation to education in the United States and school in St. Louis to newcomer parents and students.
- Provide intensive English language instruction
- Support the development of academic skills
- Assist with transition to St. Louis Public Schools mainstream neighborhood and magnet schools
- Educate refugee and immigrant families through a series of parent meetings
- Support families with donations from the ESOL Bilingual Migrant Program Food and Household Items Pantry
