


Teachers of new immigrants at St. Louis Public Schools decry changes shortening the program
The board on Tuesday approved a plan starting next fall where students can attend a maximum of one year in three newcomer schools that enroll more than 940 students in kindergarten through 10th grade, most with limited English. The plan recommended by Superintendent Millicent Borishade is intended to assimilate the students more quickly into classes with their English-speaking peers. Read more.
