Suzanne Sierra to Become Executive Director of St. Louis Mosaic Project
Betsy Cohen will step down after 12 years in role
ST. LOUIS (Feb. 26, 2025) – The World Trade Center St. Louis (WTC) of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership (STL Partnership) announced today that Betsy Cohen will step down from her role with the St. Louis Mosaic Project in the coming weeks, and Suzanne Sierra will be promoted to Executive Director, effective March 17, 2025.
“I want to thank Betsy for her 12 years of Mosaic leadership and her incredible contributions and successes,” said Tim Nowak, executive director of WTC. “This important work is in good hands as we move forward with Suzanne Sierra at the helm. Suzanne has been an excellent leader for the community in developing and executing new programs to attract and retain international talent.”
In her role as Assistant Director, Sierra led university partnerships and the Mosaic Ambassador Company program. She is in the process of launching a new International Student Summer Internship Challenge with top talent working with regional companies. She works with the International Mentor St. Louis Program and the International Spouses/Expat Women’s Group. She is on the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and St. Louis County’s 2050 Steering Committee and collaborates closely with the St. Louis Mayor’s Office of New Americans.
“It has been a privilege to lead the Mosaic Project and be part of the vital work we’ve accomplished over the past twelve years,” said Betsy Cohen, founding executive director of the St. Louis Mosaic Project. “I am confident that Suzanne will build on this foundation, expanding the work in exciting new directions. I look forward to collaborating with her and the entire WTC team in the future.”
Cohen will remain at the Partnership through March 14, 2025, and she will remain engaged with the St. Louis Mosaic Project and Steering Committee through the transition. She is leaving to pursue another opportunity as a consultant to FutureGood, a national consultancy that helps foundations, funders, nonprofits and visionary leaders predict and shape the future. We wish her all the best.
“I want to express my deep gratitude to Betsy for her vision, mentorship and generous leadership,” said Suzanne Sierra, assistant director, St. Louis Mosaic Project. “Last year, St. Louis became the number one major metro for immigration among the top 30 major metros, a goal Mosaic set when it began in 2012. That is the result of collaboration with our business, university, non-profit and broader community that have embraced the importance of being welcoming and supportive of our foreign-born newcomers. I’m excited to continue to drive initiatives that maintain our number one ranking and make our global talent one of the cornerstones of the region’s economic growth.”
We are excited about the Mosaic Project’s future and the work that we do with our community partners and supporters. We know you join us in appreciating and congratulating Betsy Cohen and Suzanne Sierra.
