Vega Transport Joins Mosaic Ambassador Company

St. Louis Mosaic Project is eager to welcome Vega Transport to the Mosaic family. Ambassador Companies at the Silver Level engage in action items that promote diversity and inclusion in the work place. Companies joining at the Silver Level place value in maintaining an internationally welcoming work environment and agree to spread awareness of the St. Louis Mosaic Project, encourage associates to become Mosaic Ambassadors, and participate in volunteer opportunities that support international communities. Vega Transport was established by the Sinanovic brothers who immigrated to the USA in 1999 as a result of the Bosnian War. The name of the company comes from a business their father, who was killed during the Srebrenica massacre in 1995, had started before the war.

Vega Transport operates with 100 newer Class A trucks. The business was started with Nick Sinanovic’s part-time job at the International Institute where Nick helped translate the CDL(commercial driver’s license)test to Bosnian-American immigrants who wished to work as truck drivers.  During that process, the brothers met many truck drivers who were dissatisfied with various aspects of the local trucking companies. It was in 2005 Nick and Irfan Sinanovic started Vega Transport as college students while studying at University of Missouri-St. Louis, with the underlying philosophy of providing the best home time and best possible pay for hardworking truck drivers.  The Sinanovic brothers pride themselves in being a family-oriented company, serving the Bosnian-American community, and being one of the most diverse trucking companies with competitive pay for drivers in the St. Louis area.

Vega Transport has already been doing a great job in supporting diversity and inclusion the workplace. As a Mosaic Ambassador Company, they are committing to hosting a learning opportunity for international students to meet with their foreign born associates, as well as partnering with the International Institute and other ethnic groups to get their message to a broader consumer base.  Vega Transport will make more efforts to cultivating a welcoming work space by creating an internal welcome team for their international hires and providing diversity and inclusion training for the employees. The associates at Vega Transport will participate as Professional Connectors for foreign born job seekers, and help the St. Louis Mosaic Project distribute its flyers and share international events with their network.

About St. Louis Mosaic Project

The St. Louis Mosaic Project was launched in 2012 in response to an economic impact report, outlining St. Louis to be lagging in immigrant growth as well as highlighting the economic benefits of increasing its foreign-born population. The Mosaic Project is a regional initiative that is professionally managed by St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, World Trade Center St. Louis and a 32-member committee. Its goal is to transform St. Louis into the fastest growing major metropolitan area for immigration by 2025, to add 25,000 more foreign born to the region from 2016-2025 and to promote regional prosperity through immigration and innovation.
