Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis becomes a Mosaic Ambassador School
St. Louis Mosaic Project is pleased to announce Gateway Science Academy (GSA) of St. Louis as Mosaic Ambassador School. The St. Louis Mosaic Project Ambassador School program encourages member schools to reinforce an internationally welcoming and inclusive culture through pledges unique to each school. Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis is a public charter school. With a rich focus in math, science and technology, Gateway Science Academy prepare its students to become the leaders of a global workforce. Under its umbrella, Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis offers elementary, middle, and high school education.
Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis’ students and staff come from over 10 different countries including Turkey, Bosnia, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, and Iraq. GSA creates an internationally welcoming environment by displaying international flags and greetings in the many different languages that are spoken at the school. Students with limited proficiency in English are provided with English as a Second Language (ESL) education, and the school provides parents whose native language is not English, school information in their native language. In addition, the school regularly hosts foreign exchange students. As a Mosaic Ambassador School, GSA commits to holding internationally focused events that highlight cultural traditions and information – both helping the school’s international students feel pride in their heritage and educating the larger school community about its own rich diversity and creating interest in the world and its many cultures.
About the St. Louis Mosaic Project
The St. Louis Mosaic Project was launched in 2012 in response to an economic impact report, outlining St. Louis to be lagging in immigrant growth as well as highlighting the economic benefits of increasing its foreign-born population. The Mosaic Project is a regional initiative that is professionally managed by St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, World Trade Center St. Louis and a 32-member committee. Its goal is to transform St. Louis into the fastest growing major metropolitan area for immigration by 2025, to add 25,000 more foreign born to the region from 2016-2025 and to promote regional prosperity through immigration and innovation.
